Red Velvet Papi: Step Inside the Bedroom of Red Velvet Papi.

Adjustments.jpeg

Red Velvet Papi is a 23 year old rapper, singer and producer from New York. He found himself writing songs in secret in his early years because his first passion was to be a producer alone and when the frustration of people continually telling him they couldn't get anything going on his beats reached was, at its boiling point, he put all those song he was writing writing to use. He began to experiment and hone his skills. Soon, Red Velvet Papi had his own sound. His sound is a blend of elements from Hip Hop, R&B and Bedroom Pop, which he affectionately refers to as "Bedroom Hip Hop and R&B". Since 2018, he has released one mixtape and three EPs and a handful of singles, the latest of which is his latest EP, "Genki", which released on July 31st.

“Genki” hones in on that bedroom sound with an instrumental that reminds us a lot of the early clario tracks that really set off the genre. The instrumental features catchy drum patterns that, aren’t super complex and loaded with sounds, and a poppy Rhodes piano hoping on the chords. Red Velvet keeps the lyrics simple, to the point, and above all else, catchy. The track as a whole is more than a vibe. It’s an atmosphere.

rebelyay: A Refreshing Sound that could Take Over.

rebelyay is a new artist emerging with a heavy EDM and pop influenced sound. He recently dropped his newest single “iamdone” from his upcoming debut project. The album is said to blend the lines between EDM and Hyperpop. The influence rebelyay takes from his from masterminds, such as, 100 gecs and flume. rebelyay pulls his themes from former drug abuse and mental heath issues that he’s dealt with and making a safe space for those of the same to feel welcome. His real hope with the project is, to help someone or let someone know they have some just like them to run to.

“iamdone” instantly puts you in a digital R&B environment. The vocals coming out sounds like something from 808s and Heartbreak. As you adjust to, the angelic and melodic vocal run, a synth begins to run back and forth and the song builds to this beautiful melodic and distorted resolution. It’s warm and everything feels so close. The feelings explode in your ears and the song only slows to build right back up and bring you to the same great warmth. This song is more than beautiful and more than worth your time.

Otto Meech: This Tape Bangs and Doesn’t Stop.

Otto Meech recently dropped his newest collection of work, “New & Improved”. The tape starts off slow with the opening track “Nightlife/Characters”. The beat bangs but at a slow melodic pace as a piano rings in the background. The tape begins to pick up and gain more energy the deeper you get. On tracks like “Dart Man” and “Bret Hart”, Otto shows off his quick chops and clever bars over futuristic sounding trap grooves. This whole tape ranges from sound and influence but Otto, keeps up what he’s good at, Bars and punchlines. We’re happy to see a such a consistent and unique talent grinding in the underground. It’s time to check him out.

Ralphy Vies: Summer Sounds to Help You Forget You’re StUck Inside.

Adjustments.jpeg

Ralphy Vies returns with a new summer jam inside of “Halftime”. In hopes to shatter our quarantine blues, Ralphy, delivers a melodic vibe from start to finish. All about hanging out with friends and having a great time, this track is sure to put you in a good mood. The video along with the track is well made with many hands helping bring it to life. The scene is a house party that looks less like a music video and more just like a good time and you have to love it when they just bring the camera to the vibe. It seems more like they all got together to turn up and then Ralphy just asked a friend to record. That being said, the video does seem well planned and thought of with clever shots and crisp takes. This video is more than worth your time. Enjoy a brand new artist today!
