We first came into contact with John when he dropped the opening track to this album. “Fighting it All” is a classic sound right off the back with raspy vocal takes and out of the ordinary sounds like the, playful lead that sets off the track. Perfectly setting the tone, the album continues down this rabbit hole of left field instrumentals and clever lyrics. John not only gets personal on this album but also has a very personalized sound in the way he writes. It makes it hard to really compare him to anyone because he’s creating a lane of his own. On tracks like “Playin’” the pieces really come together and John births a whole new mood for the world. “Love, Cycle, Life” & “Playin’” take the cake for some of our favorites but the whole tape is worth your time.
